False Alarm Program

Program Information

The Police Department has a false alarm program that follows City Ordinance Title 5, Chapter 3 (Alarm Systems) to help regulate and reduce repeat false alarm calls for service. This program operates on a yearly calendar from January 1 through December 31 of each year.

During the calendar year, the first two alarms are responded to at no charge to the alarm user. The third and subsequent false alarms fees are as follows:

  • The third false alarm response fee is $100.00.
  • The fourth false alarm response fee is $200.00. 
  • For the fifth and all subsequent false alarm responses the fee is $300.00 per call.

Subscriber Alarm Permit

An alarm user is required to complete annually a Subscriber Alarm Permit and there is no fee for the annual permit. 

Starting April 1, 2021, the Department is updating the Subscriber Alarm Permit submission process to allow the permit to be completed by one of the three ways below:

  3. Come in person and complete the application, we have them available at the Department's front counter.
