We 💚 our Seniors!

IGH Parks & Rec offers seniors many opportunities to stay active and and engaged at the Veterans Memorial Community Center and find a sense of community and friendship in the IGH Senior Club. Senior Center programming is provided in partnership with the ISD 199 Community Education Department.

Join us on Wednesdays for our Senior Safety Series. Each week we will discuss a different topic. Participants will receive a swag bag on the final day!

Where There's a Will, There's (not always) a Way

In this educational workshop, you will gain a basic understanding of WILLs—including what they do and what they don’t do.

55+ Driver Safety Class 

(ages 55+) Certified instructor teaches this class. Those who complete the class qualify for a 10% discount on auto insurance. The Driver Improvement courses are open to the public and held at the VMCC; Pre-registration is required through the MN Highway Safety & Research Center

Weekly Card Games

Join us in the Senior Center, Community Room 2 for FREE weekly card games. Coffee, bottled water and packaged snacks will be provided.

  • 500 - first, second and fourth Monday - 1 p.m.
  • Penny Bingo - Third Tuesday of the Month - 1 p.m.
  • Cribbage - Tuesdays - 6:30 p.m.
  • Hand & Foot - First, third and fourth Wed - 9 a.m.
  • Bridge - Wednesdays - 12:30 p.m.
  • Euchre - Thursdays - 1 p.m.

History Book Club

Meets every fourth Monday of the month at the VMCC from 10-11 a.m. Discuss selected books with this free, drop-in group, no registration is required. For more information, view 'The Scoop' section of the current Parks & Rec brochure

  • Pickleball- a fun, semi-competitive league for teams of two players. Gold, Silver or Bronze divisions. League begins Oct. 9
  • Women's Volleyball - Sept. 21-late Nov. League is not officiated; standings recorded. Single elimination playoffs. 
  • Co-Rec Volleyball - Sept. 16-late Nov. Two levels of play; not officiated; standings recorded. Single elimination playoffs. 

Winter/Spring 2021-22

  • Women's Volleyball - Jan. 11-mid-April. League not officiated; standings recorded. 16-18 games and double elimination playoffs. Winter registration opens Nov. 29.
